Background
McCartney’s of Moira can be traced back over 140 years and all this time it has been managed by the McCartney Family. The business is run by 5th Generation George McCartney and his daughters Judith & Sarah who are the 6th Generation in this long standing family business. In 2013 the purchase of an old family property next door seen McCartney’s double the size of their premises to 6000 sq ft and has seen retail space expand to over 4 times the size of the previous shop. The transformed old shop now houses the butchery department while the extension contains a large delicatessen and Cafe Bistro spread over two floors.
Challenge
Mercury Security and Facilities Management were approached by sixth generation family member Judith, who asked Mercury to assist design a CCTV system as their current system was not up to standard—in fact many cameras were black and white. As a family business they wished to be able to access CCTV footage at any place or time from their smart phones, tablets and other devices.
Mercury’s Solution
Mercury completed a full survey of the existing system and the premises. We devised a solution utilising the existing cabling infrastructure thus keeping disruption to a minimum in this busy and very popular outlet. The existing DVR was upgraded to a high definition 16TB analogue recorder and all cameras changed to full 1080p units enabling the capture of superior images.
